Abstract

Summary

Pre-salt reservoir characterization and monitoring presents several technological challenges and projects opportunities. Especially those associated with the reservoir characterization of highly complex geology observed in the area, where heterogeneous reservoirs with large faciological variations and intense diagenesis are overlain by a thick evaporite section that has undergone intense halokinesis.

To overcoming these challenges, important investments were made in new full azimuth seismic technologies at pre-salt reservoirs. Full azimuth data acquisition and processing technology has predominated in seismic surveys in the Brazilian pre-salt fields of the Santos Basin, where oil fields, Sapinhoá, Mero, Búzios and Tupi, Iara and, Itapu have already been entirely covered with this technology.

In the year 2025 we will achieve two major technological milestones: (1) completion of NODES 4D monitoring over the Búzios giant oilfield; (2) start of implementation of the PRM Full Field in ultra-deep waters in the Mero field.

In processing and imaging domain, the use of advanced processing techniques, such as the construction of velocity models using FWI, LSM (least square migration), FWI Imaging, acoustic and elastic version.

In this presentation we will show examples, lessons learned and best practices in the implementation of reservoir characterization and monitoring technologies at Brazilian carbonates reservoirs.
