Common-image gathers (CIGs) are an essential and practical tool for migration velocity analysis. The extended-domain CIGs usually cost significant computational and memory resources since they require computing higher dimensional images. Plane-wave CIGs require less computational cost and memory storage as they are directly calculated from the pre-stack plane-wave migration, but they usually suffer from the aliasing and crosstalk artifacts. We propose a new dip-constrained pseudo angle common-image gather. These new CIGs almost have the equivalent computational cost to the plane-wave CIGs, because they do not require extended images computation. Meanwhile, it dramatically enhances the quality of the plane-wave CIGs via three techniques including structure-oriented smoothing, vector median filter and pseudo angle. Our numerical tests validate that this method can provide more robust and high-quality residual moveouts compared with the plane-wave CIGs.
