Abstract
A key aspect of CCUS is understanding interactions between injection sites and any existing pressure offtake locations (e.g. hydrocarbon production) at a regional scale. This requires large 3D models that potentially cover multiple zones, producing fields and CCS licences. We have constructed a model that covers a large part of the Horda Platform on the NCS – encompassing the large Troll Field and the multiple CCS license areas, and three potential injection zones.
We use a combination of technologies developed for modelling oil and gas fields alongside Cirrus, a reservoir simulation tool developed for modelling CO2 storage. We are able to predict the impact of Troll production on the regional pressure space and have the ability to predict the impact of multiple injection and production scenarios by considering the system compressibility through modelling the regional hydrocarbon accumulation.
