Abstract
Expro presents an overview of practical carbon storage exploration and appraisal well activities offshore Norway. Expro has provided well management services including all downhole DST tools and top side flowback equipment for the four CO2 exploration wells that have been drilled and tested to date. Across these wells, a total of 10 formation zones were tested, utilizing a variety of standard and bespoke techniques.
The poster will cover the methods used, key practical challenges and touch on the test objectives, for the various wells.
The poster will cover the following wells:
- 31/5-7 Eos (Q1 2020) – 1 zone tested
- 32/7-1 Smeaheia Gamma – 4 zones tested
- 32/4-4 Smeaheia Alpha – 4 zones tested + 1 lower completion run
- 9/6-1 Havstjerne – 1 zone tested
This poster aims to share experiences from work scopes completed in the site characterization phase of CCS projects, and how data collection and operational efficiencies in this part of the cycle can streamline project development.
