Abstract

Summary

We analyzed 3-OH-fatty acids in surface and core sediments from four trenches (Mariana Trench, New Britain Trench, Atacama Trench, and Kermadec Trench) with water depths ranging from 2560 to 10085 meters. We detected C10-C18 3-OH-fatty acids in all sediment samples and discussed their potential as environmental indicators in deep seas.
