Abstract

Summary

The Circum-Arctic Shelf sediment CArbon DatabasE (CASCADE; https://bolin.su.se/data/cascade) is a mutli-dimensional georeferenced SQL-based database that offers a wide set of large-scale studies in organic geochemistry. CASCADE holds carbon geochemistry data from over 5000 Arctic sediment locations. Early achievements include a first circum-arctic perspective on land-ocean carbon remobilization pinpointing diverse sources and constraining 80% of export from the Eurasian Arctic. The presentation will highlight ongoing studies and open opportunities to expand with a diversity of biomarker-based studies of large-scale carbon and methane dynamics across the entire Arctic.
