In this study, we investigated the composition and distribution of archaeal lipids, and additionally a select range of bacterial lipids to better understand the sources of hydrocarbon seepage along the Scotian Slope of Atlantic Canada. In addition, we predict the dominant microbial activity in the Scotian Slope cold seeps and link that to the salt tectonic activity within the sedimentary subbasins of this region
