Abstract

Summary

We present here a compilation of results obtained in recent years describing: i) new lipid biosynthesis pathways in (hyper)halophilic archaea, ii) varying responses of (hyper)halophilic archaea to environmental changes and, iii) new analytical approaches to improve the detection and environmental significance of specific lipids of (hyper)halophilic archaea.
