Abstract

Summary

Effective Real Time Data Transmission is paramount in the Well Construction lifecycle activities, as it supports the operations in performance monitoring, hazard prevention and it enables rapid formation evaluation assessments. This optimization of well construction time lowers the cost to deliver a well. The oil and gas industry has designed and adopted the WITSML standard for data exchange as it enables the real-time transmission between rig-site to town, facilitating workflows that aid in drilling optimization, well monitoring, and accelerates the decision-making process. To prevent data gaps in the WITSML Databases due to to failures in the RT data transmission, a workflow to republish data using the WITSML API has been designed. The use of the WITSML API assist in filling the gap of log objects and or to push offline computation curves to the WITSML Server that can be consumed by other business applications. To attend customer requirements a local solution was tested applying the WITSML API and software tools to speed the recovery of dataset completeness.
