Abstract

Summary

This paper presents a comprehensive and standardized pore pressure prediction workflow that has been developed and implemented across several major fields in Kuwait. The workflow spans pre-drill, real-time, and post-drill phases, and is built on multidisciplinary collaboration between geological, drilling, and mud logging teams. By integrating diverse data sources—including offset well logs, real-time drilling parameters, gas data, and mud logging observations—the workflow enables more accurate pore pressure estimation and early identification of drilling hazards. Applied across 26 wells, the model has contributed to an average reduction of 38.35% in non- productive time (NPT), and has become a critical tool for safer, more cost-efficient drilling.
