The entire energy industry’s ability to leverage new technologies like AI, GenAI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to make better business decisions depends entirely on the state and condition of the data and meta-data. By capturing data with a unique identity, quality, history, and purpose, we can use data properly. Many operators, vendors, and service companies have combined forces in the Open Group’s OSDU forum to create a shared, open source, standards based, vendor-agnostic data platform for the energy industry. Now we have the ability to capture quality assessments and a trusted data context that can be shared across companies, disciplines, and applications reducing the cycle-time for many geoscience and engineering workflows and ultimately improving the quality and speed of our data-driven business decisions.
We will demonstrate how we are helping major operators implement a modern sustainable approach to centralized data governance while streamlining the quality assessment of subsurface data in existing on-prem corporate data stores as well as in the OSDU data platform. We also will share the value of data quality as a service within existing processes and how key metrics from those assessments can be used through time to strategize, plan, and execute modern data migrations.
