Abstract

Summary

In the age of digital transformation, the Digital Intelligent “E&P asset” integrated management system (DIAM®) leverages specific AI ML algorithms to minimize E&P decision-making errors and maximize the value and return on investment (RoI) of E&P assets and projects. Compared with current management practices, DIAM® promises a gain of over 10% in asset value and RoI. The recent ADIPEC 2024 SPE-222014-MS publication entitled “A Unified Modelling Approach using AI based Probabilistic Method to Address Structural Uncertainty in Carbonate Reservoirs” (Ref 1) describes in detail how Earth Intelligence (EI) ML probabilistic algorithms were successfully compared to the deterministic “in-house” approach on a major carbonate oil field in the Middle East.

However, many asset managers remain cautious about integrating unsupervised AI algorithms into their long-established internal workflows. This paper describes how and why managers need to react to AI geomodeling results in order to rely on and benefit from them.
