Abstract

Summary

The project focuses on using digital technologies to enhance predictions and guide investment decisions in a bp-operated gas field. It leverages the GAP Profile Generator (GPG) tool, developed by an internal bp subsurface technology squad, to address uncertainties in water production and its impact on a potential compression project. The GPG tool utilizes the Petex Suite for uncertainty studies, including deterministic, list, and probabilistic (Monte Carlo) assessments, and employs clusters of virtual machines for faster run times. This advanced tool facilitates detailed probabilistic modeling, enabling the team to filter through numerous scenarios and focus on deterministic cases. The project underscores the strategic value of digital innovation and interdisciplinary teamwork in the oil and gas industry, demonstrating significant rate acceleration benefits and incremental recovery gains, particularly in high Water-Gas Ratio (WGR) scenarios. The collaboration between the Field X subsurface squad and the bp Subsurface Technology squad has been pivotal in navigating complex workflows and achieving accurate predictions.
