Abstract

Summary

The National Preserve “Sophia of Kyiv” unites a number of landmarks of Ukraine, built in difficult geotechnical conditions and exposed to the influence of natural and man-made factors. To preserve them, the Preserve has introduced complex scientific and technical monitoring based on nondestructive research methods, a systems approach and long-term observation. Monitoring activities include geodetic, geotechnical, hydrogeological, ecological and structural research and analysis methods that allow assessing the condition of monuments, predicting deformations and preventing destruction. The research results are used to develop effective protection measures. The use of high-precision geodetic methods and structural monitoring has proven to be particularly effective, allowing us to determine the dynamics of changes and adapt conservation strategies in accordance with international standards for the protection of cultural heritage.
