Abstract
The paper presents the results of magnetic survey and archaeological research at the historical site Iliv hillfort near Lviv. The discovered numerous archaeological samples, the shape and features of ceramics indicate that the investigated site is multilayered. The earliest settlements belong to the Funnel Beaker culture (3650/700–3300 BC) and to the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture (3300–3100 BC). Most of the discovered objects on the site belong to the Princely Era.
The spatial relationship of the discovered archaeological sites with the identified magnetic anomalies is established. Preliminary magnetic surveing before the start of archaeological excavations are certainly a good practice and allow for high-quality research planning and reduce the time and resources spent on searching for hidden archaeological objects.
