Abstract

Summary

Soil magnetic susceptibility (MS) is used as an objective indicator of soil development. The application of this method is becoming increasingly relevant given the current progression of soil degradation processes. This study analyzes key trends in the spatial distribution of soil MS across major landscape types and demonstrates the potential of the method for ecological and economic land assessment. Using examples from natural and anthropogenic landscapes of the Left-Bank Ukraine, the study highlights the effectiveness of MS in erosion research, identifying soil formation processes, and conducting comprehensive environmental assessments of landscapes.
