Abstract

Summary

The atmosphere’s moisture content is an important parameter that characterizes climate change dynamics. A parameter such as actual evapotranspiration (ET) is used to assess the moisture content in the atmosphere quantitatively. This indicator is necessary for water balance and is vital for predicting drought phenomena. The research was based on the MOD16A3GF annual product data from the TERRA/MODIS satellite, with a spatial resolution of 500 m. The product is generated at the end of each year. The distribution of ET values analysison the graph during the research period from 2001 to 2023 showed that the ET values are constantly increasing. Changes occur cyclically, 3 cycles of changes in values are distinguished. In conditions of insignificant changes in the amount of precipitation in the research area, this indicates the development of arid processes. In addition, it was found that with an increase in the marks of the modern relief, the values of ET also increase. This is observed throughout Ukraine.
