Abstract

Summary

Lakes are accumulators and transformers of substances in the lithosphere and reflect the state and dynamics of the basin geosystem. Therefore, an important scientific task is to identify indicators of changes in the state of limnosystems (lake geosystems): their stationary regimes, dynamics, and directions of possible changes. The most informative component of the limnosystem is the bottom sediments – the final result of complex processes of substance transformation that occur over time within the watershed. One of the important indicators of these processes is the content of biogenic elements in lake sediments. In this regard, bottom sediments are insufficiently studied, which explains the lack of geochemical criteria that allow tracking various aspects of lake sedimentogenesis. The identification of geochemical indicators of lake accumulation conditions is necessary for solving the problems of lake geosystem monitoring, as the use of bottom sediments for this purpose eliminates the need for long-term observations to obtain the necessary information. The features of the distribution of biogenic chemical elements (Fe, S, N, K, P) in bottom sediments of various types of lakes in the Rivne region (a physiogeographical area of the Western (Volyn) Polissia of Ukraine) were considered. Changes in the conditions of biogenic sedimentation are observed in the dynamics of their concentrations in the sections and are significant for understanding the processes of forming the composition of bottom sediments under the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors.
