Abstract

Summary

The article considers the landslide process on the slope section in Dniprovsky Uzviz Street and Askold’s Mohyla, Kyiv. This landslide occurred due to waterlogging of diluvial soils. This landslide can be considered as a rheological process in terms of development mechanics. The authors in this work focused on the issue of studying the process of stabilization of the landslide body. During the landslide process, the physical and mechanical characteristics of the soils changed in the landslide body: a decrease in density, an increase in humidity, strength, etc. The authors noticed at the study site that smaller landslide processes appear on the landslide body, which occur in stages with a decrease in scale until the moment of attenuation. These smaller landslide processes are landslide flows or a rheological process. The authors used the method of solving the Bingham-Shvedov and Maslov models to determine the characteristics of such landslides. The obtained calculation results - the thickness of the landslide mass and the speed of its movement compared to the real monitoring of this landslide - almost coincided. This result makes it possible to say that Maslov’s method is effective. The authors also determined that the mass of landslide rocks is not enough to create a danger to people and the city’s infrastructure. However, this landslide creates new geomorphological conditions that may later cause the development of larger landslides or mudflows on the studied slope. It is recommended to conduct constant monitoring of the slope on Dniprovsky Uzviz Street and Askold’s Mohyla.
