Abstract
Surface waters taken for irrigation of land use areas of the agro-industrial enterprise from ponds and rivers in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine belong to the class of fresh, mainly bicarbonate sodium-magnesium and calcium-magnesium by hydrochemical type, weakly alkaline, rigid and moderately hard.
The suitability of surface waters for drip irrigation was assessed according to agronomic criteria and the risk of salinization, alkalization, and solonetzic of the soil in all irrigation sources during the irrigation period.
Based on the observations and analytical studies to assess the state of soils by agrochemical indicators, it was established that the soils under irrigation conditions did not undergo classificationally significant changes and are non-saline, non-saline, and non-alkaline.
The research results are essential data for post-project monitoring of the condition of irrigated lands, identification of possible changes in soil conditions under irrigation conditions, and justification, if necessary, of measures to minimize the negative consequences of irrigation land reclamation, as well as measures to manage the fertility of irrigated soils and determine the prospects for further development of irrigation.
