Abstract

Summary

Using the example of two settlements in the south of Odessa region, an approach to a systematic analysis of the risks of exceeding maximum permissible concentrations for the main indicators of the hydrochemical composition of groundwater (mineralization and nitrates) is applied. The need for both quantitative and qualitative assessment of drinking water standards from underground sources with the possibility of bringing it to a good chemical state is shown. Determining the impact of their risks can be a real incentive to reduce the negative effect on water sources and implement measures to achieve a good chemical state of groundwater at minimal material costs.

This approach aims at the consistent use of various methods, the main ones of which are: normalization of criteria, exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations for their comparison; evaluation of observation data by statistical methods based on histograms; development of a qualitative-quantitative scale, risk zones and construction of histograms by risk components of the estimated indicators of the hydrochemical composition of groundwater in the villages; comparison of the weighted probability distribution of risk zones.
