Abstract

Summary

The Korsun-Novomyrhorod district (KNd), which is promising for native and placer titanium and titanium-zirconium deposits, is located in the central part of the Ukrainian Shield (USh). This is supported by geophysics, geology, structurally-tectonic, paleogeographical, paleogeomorphological, geomorphosystemic, and MASS. An important place in this complex belongs to paleogeomorphological studies, which allow identifying the locations of upward lithodynamic flows, from which the roots of placer bodies could be brought to the level of the denudation cut, and morpholithodynamic flows, where placer bodies accumulated. Preliminary studies have identified prospective areas within the KNd. The morphochronodynamic analysis of the geomorphosystem of the KNd in combination with data from geology, geophysics, and tectonics, has provided important information for forecasting and prospecting titanium and titanium-zircon deposits. General palaeogeomorphological maps of certain stages of development of the geomorphosystem of the KNd in the Mesozoic-Cenozoic allow to identify places of possible exposure of the rocks of placers, ways of transit of their destruction products and places of their accumulation in placers. These data are also used to create special maps (mesozoic-cenozoic valley formation, relief development patterns, structurally-tectonic, prospecting and exploration), which together allow for more efficient prospecting and exploration work.
