Abstract

Summary

It is necessary to determine the possibilities of using water resources, a preliminary assessment of the water content of the rivers of Transcarpathia, necessary to determine the possibilities of using water resources, was carried out within three water management sections of the Tisa sub-basin. The assessment was based on a comprehensive hydrological-genetic analysis of the water content of the rivers of Transcarpathia over a long period of observations (1947–2020). The research is aimed at determining the water content phases, assessing the intra-annual flow distribution and identifying the impact of climate changes on the water regime. The analysis was conducted for four main water collectors: Tisa River, Latorica River, Uzh River and Borzhava River. Analysis of difference-integral curves confirmed the cyclical nature of changes in high- and low-water phases. A shift in the minimum average monthly water consumption to August-September was detected, which indicates a tendency towards warmer winters. Assessment of the availability of annual and seasonal flow showed significant unevenness, which must be taken into account when designing water management measures. It was established that even in years with average water content, most of the year is characterized by a shortage of water resources. The results of the study emphasize the need for long-term flow regulation and the development of comprehensive water management measures to ensure sustainable water use in the context of climate change.
