Abstract
Urban parks are a vital element of the urban environment, playing a key role in enhancing the well-being of city residents. To ensure that citizens can fully benefit from the ecosystem services provided by these green spaces, it is essential that parks are located within close proximity to residential areas. This study examines pedestrian accessibility to urban parks in Lviv through the application of network analysis conducted in a GIS environment. Using population data, it calculates the share of the residents living within 400-meter and 800-meter walking distances to parks for each of the city’s 40 neighborhoods. The results reveal clear differences between short- and long-distance access, with significantly fewer neighborhoods having adequate park access within the shorter 400-meter range. The spatial distribution of park access highlights the disadvantaged position of peripheral areas, which is consistent with findings from previous studies in other countries. Additionally, a north-south divide within the inner city is identified, with southern neighborhoods offering more favorable conditions for residents.
