The Carboniferous volcanic rocks in the Junggar Basin have great potential, but the degree of discovery is low, and the scale succession field has not yet been formed. To overcome the exploration challenges in the Junggar Basin, a largest onshore 3D DAS-VSP data acquisition, processing and interpretation project in China has been conducted in the Junggar Basin. The armored optical cables were deployed outside and inside the casing in Well ShiXi-162.
The processing and integrated interpretation of the 3D DAS-VSP data can help us to understand the complex geological structure, accurately image the Carboniferous top surface and the inner sequence interface and identify small faults and thin reservoirs. The borehole seismic parameters such as Q value obtained from the uphole data and 3D DAS-VSP data can also been used to constrain the conventional PSTM velocity model, and the borehole driven QPSTM was conducted on the surface 3D seismic data around the borehole area with significant improvement of the resolution and fidelity of the surface 3D seismic imaging, and then effectively improve the depiction of small faults. The integrated interpretation of the 3D DAS-VSP data helped to identify the micro-amplitude structural distribution and predict the thin reservoir in Junggar Basin.
