Abstract

Summary

This is a case study combining Walkaway VSP acquisition, processing and inversion. The acquisition was performed using two sources separated by a constant dither of 2 seconds. The processing involved evaluating two wavefield separation methods: median filter and parametric decomposition. Both wavefield separation methods showed very similar migrated images, although the parametric decomposition method showed smoother reflectors. In the other hand, the median filter method preserved a more realistic amplitude distribution. Finally, an acoustic P-impedance inversion was performed, which resulted with a correlation of approximately 88% and error of 1755 g/cc*ft/s.
