Abstract

Summary

Building robust shear-velocity model with elastic full-waveform techniques is challenging due to crosstalk between P- and S-modes and between scattering and propagation effects.

We applied a recently proposed mode-decomposed reflection waveform inversion method to PS ocean-bottom data from offshore Norway in an elastic VTI formulation. By minimizing the misfit between modelled and observed PS data, the inverted Vs model gives an improved PS RTM imaging result.
