The seal is often the most overlooked element in petroleum system analysis, especially within structurally complex carbonate reservoirs. This study emphasizes the pivotal role of structural geology—specifically the geometry and integrity of structural highs, lows, fold hinges, and fault networks—in controlling seal capacity and trapping efficiency. By explicitly integrating structural framework interpretation into seal risk assessments, the reliability of resource evaluations in carbonate reservoirs is improved.
