Abstract

Summary

The Dammam Dome, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, is a prominent geological structure crucial for hydrocarbon exploration. However, its structural development is unique and requires comprehensive geological analysis. This study examines the structural evolution of the Dammam Dome by integrating surface and subsurface data to construct a high-resolution 3D model, showcasing the layers of the dome and providing insights into its development and evolution.

Previous research and the developed 3D model suggest that the dome formed through two primary mechanisms: salt movement and later tectonic activity. The study traces the dome’s evolution from the Ordovician to the Cretaceous period, analyzing the influence of salt tectonics and compressional forces on its structural development.
