Abstract

Summary

This paper considers the problems of modelling seismic (particularly borehole) data when there is a combination of low anisotropic symmetry and attenuation present. We present a new finite-difference algorithm which can handle this situation, and discuss the interface with rock physics theories. We show a range of numerical examples of practical importance, and discuss the subtleties in the time-lapse signals in these cases.
