A surface 3C-DAS system has been successfully developedand and tested it in the field to record 3C-DAS data on the surface. The 3C-DAS system consists of a 3-channel DAS interrogator and a specially constructed 3C-DAS sensing cable with 3 fibers. The direct comparison of the 3C-DAS data and 3C seismic data recorded with 3C geophone shows that they both agree very well on the same location along the 3C-DAS sensing cable. Compared with the 3C geophone data, the waveform and spectrum of the 3C-DAS data consistency are good, and the signal-to-noise ratio is comparable, which can be used as a new generation of optical fiber distributed seismic vector sensing system in the field of oil and gas exploration and acquire high spatial density 3C seismic data at very low cast. If the 3C-DAS sensing cable is buried below the subsurface or is trenched on the seafloor, the 3C-DAS system can be used to record 3C seismic data with high spatial density as well as high quality surface 4D 3C seismic data for monitoring purpose.
