Abstract

Summary

GeD.ai, developed by Repsol, is a pioneering solution that leverages generative AI and computer vision to automate the extraction, validation, and management of geological data from unstructured documents. The energy sector faces significant challenges in handling vast amounts of well-related reports, which traditionally require manual, time-consuming efforts by experts just to extract the data to use in different analysis (Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Geohazards, etc). GeD.ai addresses these inefficiencies by using large language models to transform unstructured data into structured, accessible information and providing a user-friendly interface for validation. The system features automated document ingestion, AI-based classification, robust data homogenization, and a multi-layered database infrastructure with secure APIs. Integration with a WebApp and Power BI enables data validation and easy consumption. This tool can significantly reduce tedious and error prone manual tasks resulting in efficiencies which can have a significant economic impact. GeD.ai stands as a benchmark for digital transformation in geological data management, demonstrating how GenAI can deliver tangible business value and efficiency while maintaining expert oversight for data quality.
