Atlas of the Petroleum Fields and Discoveries in Northern Green Canyon, Ewing Bank, and Southern Ship Shoal and South Timbalier Areas (Offshore Louisiana), Northern Gulf of Mexico
Authors P. Weimer, J. R. Crews, R. S. Crow and P. VarnaiAlthough the northern deep Gulf of Mexico is the major exploration province in the United States today, few examples have been published on the setting of the fields. This paper presents the seismic stratigraphic and wireline log expression of 35 fields/discoveries in the northern Green Canyon, Ewing Bank, and southern Ship Shoal and South Timbalier protraction areas (Figure 1). Tables summarize the salient characteristics of each field. The purpose of the paper is to provide an overview of selected fields from this important province. This paper is designed to complement the AAPG Treatise Series on different kinds of petroleum fields (Beaumont and Foster, 1990- 1992).
