Sondaj Dizisinin Çeşitli Burkulma Konumları ve Dönme Hızları için Halkasal Basınç Kayıpları
Authors Ö. Erge and M.E.

Incised Valley-Fills and Their Genetically Associated Lowstand Deltaic Sequences in the Late Permian Unayzah Reservoir of Saudi Arabia
By M. ŞenalpThe incised valley-fills and their genetically associated lowstand deltaic sequences were first reported by the author in the subsurface of the Upper Member of the later Late Permian Ash-Shiqqah Formation of Saudi Arabia. These very coarse- to fine-grained sandstones with excellent reservoir qualities form the uppermost part of the stratigraphically and genetically heterogeneous Permo-Carboniferous Unayzah Reservoir, and produce significant amount of sweet gas and light oil. Immense amount of data obtained from the measured sections at outcrops and from the exploration and production wells and large amount of cores with the help of palynologic studies provided valuable information on the stratigraphy, sedimentology and reservoir quality of these successions (Senalp and King, 1995; Senalp and Al-Duaiji, 1995; 2001; Senalp 2006). Their formation occurred during the opening phase of the Neo-Tethys Ocean. Stratigraphically, the Ash-Shiqqah Formation extends between the Unayzah Formation at the base and the Base Khuff D Carbonates at the top, representing the MFS P20 (260.4 Ma). It is separated from the underlying continental red bed Unayzah Formation by a thick caliche-formed crust of Pre-Ash-Shiqqah Unconformity surface. The Ash-Shiqqah Formation correlates with the Kaş Formation, and the Khuff Formation correlates with the Gomanibrik Formation of southeast Turkey.

Çardak-Dazkırı Havzası’ nın (Denizli-Batı Türkiye) organik maddece zengin kayaçlarının iz element içeriklerini kullanarak depolanma ortamının belirlenmesi
By D.B.

Thin Bed Contourite Seismic Imaging by Wavelet Transform
By S. SunjayWavelet (Mathematical Microscope) analysis of seismic data is made fashionable for thin bed precise subsurface imaging and interpretation. 3D seismic data interpretation for subsurface imaging of thin bed contourite systems is integral part of research work. Seismic expression of bottom current deposits from that of other related deepwater sediments (turbidites, hemipelagites, debrites, etc.), and to maximising the information that can be derived from seismic data. A wide variety of seismic facies are common in contourites, most of which are equally present in turbidite systems. Seismic facies associations that may be typical of contourites are still to be defined. Seismic characteristics also depend very closely on the methods of seismic acquisition and processing. Sediment waves and channels are very common both in contourite and turbidite systems, and not specifically diagnostic of either system. Slope deformation, sediment creep, and large-scale water-escape may cause a hummocky seismic facies that can be misinterpreted as sediment waves. The identification of hydrocarbon reservoirs from seismic data is a key issue in the oil industry. Texture Segmentation of a 3D Seismic Section with Wavelet Transform is employed for pattern recognition. Because of the segmentation, zones of different internal stratification are identified in the seismic section. This recognition is based on the comparison of the 3-D seismic data with the reference patterns extracted from the representative areas, characterized by different textures. In splicing 3-D seismic data, consistent processing is one of the key technologies because it has a great effect on imaging quality.Seismic geomorphology goal is to look for and recognize geologically or geomorphologically meaningful patterns in plan view as well as in section view. Seismic geomorphology, the extraction of geomorphic insights using predominantly 3D seismic data, is a rapidly evolving discipline that facilitates the study of the subsurface using plan view images. Methods evolved for generating horizontal and flatted slices, arbitrary traverses, wavelet attribute extractions and mapping, and rapid analysis of large complex data volumes.A geological feature must have an expression that is scientifically reasonable in multiple dimensions. Analyses of section view integrated with plan view images represents the integration of seismic stratigraphy with seismic geomorphology. Pattern recognition, involving the interpreter being able to recognize geologically significant features in plan view on 3D.the seismic data, is critical to the seismic geomorphological approach. In conjunction, it is also essential to cross reference plan view with section view images, thus integrating the geomorphology with the stratigraphy.

Concretions in Akçakoca Sandstone Member of Kusuri Formation (Lower-Middle Eocene), Western Black Sea
Authors A. Aktosun and B. VarolAkçakoca Sandstone member of Kusuri Formation is a channel fill sediments which were deposited in submarine fan system by turbidite mechanism during Early and Middle Eocene in the Western Black Sea, Turkey. They consist of channel axis (massive sandstone), channel margin, levee and their complex sequences. Submarine fans are important in the petroleum industry for their reservoir and source rock potential. In the Akçakoca region, natural gas has been produced from Akçakoca sandstones since 2007. In this region, the massive sandstones with various dimentions of concretions were deposited in the submarine fan system. These concretions have spherical, ellipsoidal and flattened ellipsoidal in shape and have variable diameters ranging between 0.1-2 m. Petrographically, they are classified as feldspathic litarenite (generally) and lithicarkose. The sandstone concretions generally are represented by clean sands (sand/clay ratios>=7:1; 9:1), and show poorly or moderately sorting. Whereas encompassed sandstones (host rock) are texturally (sand/clay ratios>=7:3; 9:5 ) and compositionally immature as indicated by significant feldspar, clay, volcanic, sedimentary and metamorphic rock fragments due to close provenance and rapid transport by short rivers and tectonically controlled basin margin. The massive sandstones are generally structureless, only having amalgamation surfaces but underlying unit is rich in bioturbations and dewatering products such as dish and ball-pillow and flame structures that indicate middle and upper fan deposition respectively. The environmental features imply that the concretions in the massive sandstones had resulted from dewatering process/soft sedimentary deformation that caused by remove of the clay matrix as suspension and subsequently precipitation of calcite cement or they were independently formed after rock formation in the late diagenetic period, resulted from ground water lenses involved precipitation of calcite cement, that occupied the intergranular and interparticular open spaces, leading to significantly reduced porosity and permeability of the massive sandstones. Based on the XRD analysis, calcite ratio is between 14% and 38% in the concretions. Porosity and permeability values of the host sandstones are generally high (5.6- 30.9% porosity, 0.02-320.67 md permeability). In conclusion; host sandstones with the high porosity and permeability values can be good reservoirs, but concretions within the host rock have not any reservoir features because of the low porosity and permeability values (3.2-7.8 % porosity, 0.02-0.09 md permeability). The concretions, embedded within the host rock, do not constitute the reservoir barrier and may have not a negative impact on the Akçakoca sandstones.

Exploration of the Gas Field in Western High Related to Thrace Basin Using Seismic Method
Authors H. Sarıtaş, G. Çifçi, Y. Thomas, B. Marsset, A. Rochat, C. Grall, P. Henry, G. Westbrook, C. Sorlien and S. KerIn the Marmara Sea the North Anatolian Fault consists of a main strand and a few subsidiary branches. The main strand is made up of the Ganos (15 km long), Central Marmara (105 km) and North Boundary (45 km) fault segments (Okay et al., 2000). Western Part of the Central Marmara Fault crosses on The Western High which is located between Tekirdag and Central Marmara Basins. The Western High and Cinarcik Basin is one of the major regions of geological interest which is the area close to the NAF where evidence of gas hydrates and fluid escapes have been observed during previous scientific cruises. To understand the kinematics of the NAF and origin of the gas, collecting data was focused on these areas by the latter cruises. It started with TAMAM (Turkish-American Marmara Multichannel) cruise in July 2008 by R/V Koca Piri Reis which belongs to Dokuz Eylul University, and after that it continued with MARMESONET (Marmara Demonstration Mission Program supported by European Seafloor Observatory Network) in December 2009 by R/V Le Suroit opreated by IFREMER. This cruise consists of two legs; leg-1 is about collecting multibeam and AUV data, Leg-2 is about collecting High Resolution 3D Seismic data. The last cruise was carried out in June 2010 by R/V Koca Piri Reis, its aim was collecting 2D High Resolution Seismic Data. These studies were funded by EU ESONET MARMARA-DM Project. These 2D high resolution seismic data was processed by Hakan Saritas. 3D HR data which was processed by Bruno Marsset, Yannick Thomas and Alexis Rochat. 3D seismic data provide detailed information about fault distribution and subsurface structures. Computer-based interpretation and display of 3D seismic data allow for more thorough analysis than 2D seismic data. The objectives of this survey are to find locations of gas strata and gas hydrate formation in the western high related to Thrace Basin. Previos studies show us the gas components of Thrace Basin where have been found many industrial gas field and Western High in sea of Marmara are fairly the same. The other objectives of this survey are studying on geological structure of this area, understand kinematics related to dextral strike slip North Anatolian fault, focus on the mud volcano where close to NAF and observation gas fluid through to seabed, oil seepage and find its location. In conclusion, there were some cruises related to collecting various marine geology and geophysics data in the Western High. The investigations have been focused on gas hydrate, gas escape, location of the gas strata and tectonics related to Thrace Basin.

Biyodedektifler; Çevre Kirliliği Ve Petrol Sızıntılarının İncelenmesinde Biomarkerlerin Kullanımı Biodetective
Authors S.G. Turgut and N.Y.

Simultaneous vibroseis 3D seismic data recording for optimum field development-HFVS 3D seismic data acquisition and processing
Authors Y. Sakallıoglu and Z. HengThis case study presents a simultaneous vibroseis data recording and processing techniques for optimum field development in Libya. In order to acquire high trace density and high resolution 3D seismic data, the first High Fidelity Vibratory Seismic (HFVSSM) survey carried out in Libya in 2008. HFVS is an Exxon Mobil patented method that has been licensed by a number of contractors which technique allows data from multiple vibratory sources to be simultaneously recorded during the acquisition phase and separated in the processing stage. Besides the HFVS method requires one or more individual vibrators comprise a vibrator set and the recording of vibrator motion signals on each vibrator for every sweep that these actual motion signals can be used to process the data. The HFVS point source/receiver recording technique is providing high productivity and high resolution data. Processing records as unique source points allows for correction of intra array statics and differential velocity move-out which would not be possible with conventional recording where vibrator arrays are summed in the field. Measured vibrators ground force signals are used for the data inversion and separation provide more reliable data. Additionally, denser 3D geometry leads to finer spatial sampling to avoid aliasing problem and increase resolution. HFVS 3D data recording is different than conventional.

Rezervuarın kılcal çatlaklı yapısı CO2’in süpürme verimliliğini olumsuz etkilemektedir.

Well Screening Criteria For Water Shut-Off Polymer Gel Injection In Carbonate Medium
Authors S. Canbolat and M. ParlaktunaHigh water production in oil fields is one of the major difficulties for the petroleum industry, as reservoirs become mature. Costs of lifting, handling, separation and disposal of large amounts of produced water; environmental concerns about this water; increased corrosion rates; higher tendency for emulsion; and, scale formation are among the main problems due to water production which often decrease the economic life of a well. Therefore, there is a need to reduce excessive water production. WSO polymer gel injection is a successful method for naturally fractured reservoirs which generally exhibits extreme water cut values. Gels are used in carbonate reservoirs that are dominated by secondary porosity features. This technology will preferentially flow into these features and selectively reduce permeability to water. Success of the application is based on the proper selection of the wells. Currently, gel polymer treatments have an 85-90% success rate in reducing water production and, in many cases, increasing oil production. Gel polymer systems have a penetration property greater than the mechanical methods and cement to provide a deeper barrier against the excess water. Also, plugging due to gel polymers can be removed unlike physical cement plugging which leads to a permanent plug in the porous media. The residual oil cannot be produced from the treated region by cementing method after decreasing of excess water production. The production well treatment involves injection of the gellant into the fractures or high permeability zones that produces a lot of water, thereby reducing oil production. This application not only improves draw-down from the productive zones; but, it also reduces or eliminates the costs associated with the produced water. Candidate Field for WSO application is located in southeastern Turkey which is an anticline structure. The field was discovered in January 1990 and has been on production since 1990. The structural contour map top of D formation is given in Figure.1. The field is a typical carbonate reservoir with primary drive mechanism of bottom water drive. Four formation (Zone-A,B,C and D) are oil bearing throughout the field. Zone-A is dominantly mud-stone. The formation is not expected to have matrix porosity or inter-granular porosity. Accordingly they can act as seal. Fracture porosity is present but limited, mostly in microfracture type and adds limited reserve potential when compared to the reserves created by matrix and intergranular porosity. However, permeability created by fractures is potentially very high. Zone-B is an organic rich limestone and may also act as a seal. Zone-C is a limestone. Upper part of C formation (K-C member) is also reservoir (in quality) with its porosity and permeability values. Zone-D is a limestone-dolomite formation. Zone-D which has a good secondary porosity developed by fresh water leaching and dolomitization.
