Classification of urban land coverage using satellite data and random forest classifier
Authors A. Palamar, M. Malanchuk, M. Hanchuk and L. DatsenkoSummarySatellite data provides great potential and opportunities for environmental applications. In addition, open-access data is an independent channel for obtaining environmental information. Numerous nongovernmental environmental organizations in the world use satellite data for their own activities. In this study, the usefulness of the classification of geoinformation systems of remote sensing for the cartography of urban lands was investigated. The main purpose of the work is to study various vegetation areas in urban settlements and industrial zones, for example, in the Kryvyi Rih city. After completing the production of maps, a visual and field check of the classification accuracy of the buffer zones is performed. Some problems are not excluded due to small smoothing options. Numerous buffer zones between earth classes cause numerous small mosaics on the final map, but these mosaics provide additional information about the differences in the surrounding area.

Investigation of the influence of elements of internal orientation of digital cameras on the accuracy of determination of coordinates of locations
Authors M. Fys, V. Hlotov and I. PetryshynSummaryThe essence of the work is to investigate the influence of the elements of internal orientation (EofIO) of digital images obtained with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) on the accuracy of determining the coordinates of points on the ground. It is proposed to perform this on the basis of the collinearity condition where the function is constructed, for which the optimal values of EofIO images are determined. In this case, such a search is performed using values in the set of elements of external orientation (EofXO) and EofIO, defined using image processing programs as an initial approximation provides further refinement of the coordinates of points on the ground. The algorithm was tested on the corresponding results of aerial photography from UAVs at control points, which made it possible to prove the effectiveness of this technique.

Study of forest fires according to remote sensing data (on the example of the Chornobyl exclusion zone)
Authors A. Sevruk, L. Babiy, A. Babushka and B. ChetverikovSummaryRemote sensing of the Earth plays an important role in monitoring and assessing the effects of forest fires. With the help of various methods of processing multispectral space images, it is possible to determine the risk of fire spread, identify hot spots and set thermal parameters, map the affected areas and assess the consequences. The aim of the work is to assess the severity associated with the post-fire phase on the example of the forests of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The objectives of the study are to determine the area of burned areas from different time space images obtained from the satellite Sentinel-2 using a normalized burn ratio (NBR). Implemented researches show that the use of remote data of high periodicity and the presence of additional bands of surveying systems significantly expands the range of tasks that can be solved using them. Normalized burned ratio allows quickly and efficiently to identify and calculate the area damaged by fires, that gives possibility operatively assess the consequences of such fires and estimate the damage. It is established that in the studied area the accuracy of area calculation using the normalized burned ratio is 6.7% of the template area, which is sufficient for this type of task.

Study of changes of the city of Khyriv using archival cartographic data
More LessSummaryThe cover of our planet is changing with time around the world. Especially it relates to settlements. Mainly, towns and cities are expanding using adjacent areas or change their view because of new direction of development, sometimes some settlements disappeared at all. Development of GIS-technologies and application of remote sensing data allows to implement the analysis of current changes and study information from archival sources. The aim of the work is to study the changes in landscapes, boundaries of the city development and forest cover of the territories adjacent to the small city of Khyriv, using GIS-technologies and archival cartographic data. Using the Mapinfo software environment, the changes in the city of Khyriv for different time periods, using cartographic materials for 1942 and 1970 were analyzed. As a result of research, we can observe that in the period from 1942 to 1970, the changes in the city of Khiriv are quite significant. There are many cases of changes of land purpose. Thus, large areas previously used for agricultural production are being withdrawn from circulation, the structure of arable land use and forest cover is also changing, the city has been rebuilt, small residential houses were changed on multistory apartment buildings, and changes in hydrographic objects are being observed. Especially it is interesting changes in Stryvigor riverbed and could be the theme for farther studies. These changes are explained by the gradual increase in the urban population (according to statistics, as of 1921 – 2654, and as of 1970 – 3500 inhabitants), and the industrialization of the region (during the study period, MTS was created, plants “Equator” and “Meridian”. Until 2003, a large military unit was stationed in the city.

Applying the statistical method of GNSS time series analysis for the detection of vertical displacements of Dnister HPP-1 dam
Authors K. Tretyak, T. Korliatovych and I. BrusakSummaryThe research presents a method for deformation monitoring of engineering structures based on a statistical analysis of GNSS time series. The construction of Dnister hydroelectric power plant (HPP) is an active intervention in geological-tectonic, geodynamic and hydrological conditions, which can lead to intensification of deformation processes around the area. In order to differentiate the kinematics of the Dnister HPP-1 dam, a method consists of detection covariance interrelationships between GNSS time series for the period from 01.07.2017 to 31.03.2021 is performed. Authors calculate the covariance interrelationships between all pairs of MP01-MP05 permanent GNSS stations of Dnister HPP-1 dam. Epochs 2017.8, 2019.0, and 2019.4 are characterized with extreme values of covariance coefficients. Based on the analysis, it is found that the amplitude of vertical oscillations of MP01 station is 3–8 times larger than the scale at other stations of the dam for similar epochs. The method can be additionally used to monitor the entire GNSS network of the Dniester HPP-1, not just the dam.

On the impact of non-tidal atmospheric loading on the GNSS stations of regional networks and engineering facilities
Authors I. Brusak and K. TretyakSummaryThe research analyses the impact of non-tidal atmospheric loading (NTAL) on the GNSS stations of GeoTerrace network (Ukraine) and Dnister hydro power plant (HPP) in December 2019. Based on the data of 32 stations in the Western region of Ukraine authors divide them into two groups. One of the groups shows two times fewer dynamics of vertical subsidence comparing with vertical displacements due to NTAL models. The analysis of modeled NTAL with dense GNSS network of Dnister HPP-1 is also provided. The time series of up, east, north position changes of GNSS stations and NTAL models does not fully correlate. It leads us to the need for the regionalization of NTAL models and the need to calculate special corrections for engineering facilities.

Method for creating a basic model of the flooded zones of the Uzh river
Authors V. Rusyn, M. Yurkiv and Yu. AndreichukSummaryIn recent years, more and more often you can see the picture of the flood situation, this is provoked by the irrational use of water protection areas, land and forest resources. Each of these land categories has changed due to an increase in the anthropogenic load factor. The lack of clear instructions affects the effectiveness of flood risk management plans, their quality and coordination ability depend on the practical experience of the developers. A basic model of the flooded zones of the Uzh river was developed in the paper using the DEM and the equation of the annual water balance, taking into account the coefficients that affect the surface runoff, namely the influence of the vegetation covers and the granulometric composition. Such model gives possibility to show the risks of flooding and help develop a flood protection program for population.

The challenges of the provision of land consolidation with geospatial data
Authors M. Malashevskyi, A. Tarnopolskyi, O. Malashevska and Y. TarnopolskyiSummaryAt the current stage of land relations reforming, the issue of effective land consolidation implementation has arised. There are challenges of geospatial data sets development which could facilitate effective land consolidation; and the challenge of the quality of such data. The need of supplementing thematic geospatial data sets, the removal of semantical, topological, and logical mistakes has been substantiated. Adaptation to agricultural land market, the development of specialized geoportals which could display distribution among land owners and users, restrictions on land area owned by one person, etc. is necessary. Geospatial data infrastructure platform development is an especially important process over the course of decentralisation of power and as a support to individual land consolidation initiatives, the devolution of powers and authority to local communities.
