Monitoring of the technogenic impact on the example of the Elwha River (Olympic peninsula, State Washington, USA)
Authors A. Skorokhodova and I. VirshyloSummaryIn this paper monitoring of the technogenic impact on the example of the Elwha River (Olympic Peninsula, State Washington, USA) was conducted. During the study the influence of river dams on the ecosystem was analyzed, the possibility of using LiDAR data for monitoring of engineering structures and their impact on the environment was considered.

Using Classification Algorithms to Recognize Archeo-Magnetic Anomalies
More LessSummaryThe scientific article “Using Classification Algorithms to Recognize Archeo-Magnetic Anomalies” aims to classify the data of magnetometry and select areas with abnormal values of field characteristics by the classification algorithm. The abnormal effect appears due to the different magnetization of objects and the rock in which they are located. The method of the closest neighbor is used to select anomalies. It is a nonparametric classifier based on the evaluation of the common characteristics of the objects.

The comparison of search algorithms in graph for the problem of determining the optimal trajectory
More LessSummaryThe scientific article "The comparison of search algorithms in graphs for the problem of determining the optimal trajectory" illuminates the searching order of the best way in finding the minimal distance in graphs for geological tasks. The algorithms were written on Python for the purpose of this task. The article depicts two algorithms: the breadth-first search (BFS) and the depth-first search (DFS). On the one hand, both of them completely suit for realization of this task, on the other hand, they are simple in writing and executing.

Geological and mathematical modeling development of cracks in gas prospective low-permeable rocks and ecological safety of the geological environment
Authors M.B. Lushch, V.R. Khomyn, I.O. Piatkovska, N.V. Goptarova and L.V. UgrakSummaryIn this paper, using geological and mathematical modeling, the width of cracks formed in the hydraulic fracturing interval, which increases exponentially in the direction to the well axis according to the law of kinetics for the irreversible process, is substantiated. The constant of the crack openness spread in the formation is shown, which reflects the power of the hydraulic fracture in the layer of lowpermeable Upper Cretaceous deposits at the Carpathian region regarding the crack opening and has a linear dimension. Using geological, mechanical and physical parameters of the Upper Cretaceous deposits of the Carpathian region and the physical characteristics of the hydraulic fracturing, it is determined that the projected crack propagation will not extend beyond the design interval, which is important for the ecological safety of the geological environment. The process of hydraulic fracturing productive layers of low-permeable Upper Cretaceous deposits is regulated by such basic parameters as the pressure of hydraulic fracturing of rocks and the horizontal penetration of cracks in the formation confirmed both by simulation and actual work
