E018 A western Venezuela case study. The Sipororo Structure: from abandonment to 35 MMscfg/d. Summary 1 New exploration ideas and methodologies along with applied drilling and completion technologies were successfully utilized to discover new gas reserves in the Barinas basin of western Venezuela. In 2001 Repsol-YPF initiated an exploration program in the Barrancas Block an area of the relatively under explored Barinas basin.
