Abstract
We present a novel technology, designed to enhance seismic resolution and imaging of ultra-deep complex geologic structures by using (1) wave-equation depth migration and (2) wave-equation velocity model building technology for deeper data penetration and recovery, steeper dip and ultra-deep structure imaging, and accurate velocity estimation for imaging and pore pressure prediction, and (3) accurate illumination and amplitude processing for extending the AVO prediction window. Ultra-deep wave-equation imaging provides much greater resolution and accuracy than what can be accomplished with standard imaging technology. The advanced imaging methodology may improve the success rate and cost effectiveness for new deep-field discoveries, and also has applications in increasing recovery efficiency for the development of existing fields.
