Abstract

This paper describes a method for automatically recognizing buried pipes. The amplitudes of reflected pulse-radar signals are converted to 1, 0, or -1 according to the peak points of the signal,
thereby converting the underground cross-sectional image into a line image. The hyperbolic patterns created by underground pipes are made automatically recognizable by trace and addition
processing. Underground pipes can be easily located.
