Abstract
Pending E.P.A. and D.0.T regulations concerning assessment,
monitoring, and correction of hydrocarbon contamination in the
petroleum and gas related industries are spurring renewed efforts
to bring forth new technologies to address these problems and issues.
Within the past decade, a family of surface and airborne
ground-probing radars were developed which were generally
tailored for subsurface geological exploration and mapping.
Within the past two years, however, at least one radar system has
been successfully employed to detect hydrocarbons.
