P264 HEADWAVE SUPPRESSION IN TRAVELTIME COMPUTATION Abstract 1 A simple salt velocity substitution method is used to reduce headwave content in the traveltime tables used by Kirchhoff pre-stack depth migration to improve migration images of near-salt and sub-salt geological structures. Two low velocity values are used to replace the salt velocity and traveltimes are calculated for the two extra models. Areas with the same traveltimes for the two models are considered areas not affected by the salt existence.
