Abstract
We present an algorithm for fast computating of multivalued traveltime and amplitude fields in 3D models. It has been designed for migration/inversion and the velocity model is assumed smooth. Sampling of ray field is performed along rays by the wavefront construction method. Traveltime, amplitude maps or any other ray-traced variables like take-off angles are calculated by interpolation of the ray field sampling over a dense regular grid of points. The ray density criterion is based on paraxial ra.y theory and ensures precision of interpolation.
