Abstract

The Tilt-depth method is commonly used with pole-reduced aeromagnetic data to obtain the depth to the upper surface of vertical contacts. Unfortunately the method involves determining the distance between contours of the Tilt angle, which is both computationally intensive and often ambiguous. A new method is introduced here which does not use contours at all, enabling the depths to be simply read from the output image. If there is no remanent magnetisation present then the method also indicates when the contact is dipping.
