Abstract

In this paper, we present a case study of improving the complex fault imaging in Luda field through high resolution tomography, TTI model building and High Fidelity Controlled Beam Migration (HFCBM). The step change in the imaging quality provides direct contribution to the subsequent success of four exploration wells. And the petroleum reserves of this field increased by six fold based on the new interpretation and drilling results. We will focus on how to update the TTI velocity parameters through residual curvature analysis from the dipping events with the limitation of shallow well penetration and short cable length; we will also discuss the newly developed HFCBM algorithm and its benefit as to the fault imaging.
