Abstract

In this paper I present a pragmatic and efficient approach for computing full-volume reflection angle/azimuth gathers using reverse-time migration. The method is based on the post-imaging analysis of event slopes in local horizontal subsurface-offset panels and event dips in the migrated image, per migrated shot gather. For each image point in a migrated shot gather, the reflection angle and reflection azimuth associated with the locally dominant event is estimated. Subsequently, these angle and azimuth values are used to map image amplitudes of each shot gather into reflection angle/azimuth gathers.
