Abstract

Reservoir history matching is a challenging inverse problem of flow simulation arising in the Oil & Gas industry. In this paper a comparison of two different geological models used in flow simulations is presented. The first model was mainly developed based on well data; the second model was fully driven by seismic data and obtained using pre-stack geostatistical inversion technique. This study demonstrates that integrated E&P workflow including seismic driven geostatistical modeling leads to a significant increase of the reliability of the flow simulation and hence increasing the accuracy of forecasting future production, which ultimately results in more efficient drilling programmes and oil production growth.
