Abstract

Problem of combining well logs with seismic data is still a topic of discussions. In this paper full wave sonic logs and seismic attributes are proposed as an innovative way of combining these two measurements. Data from the sandy shaly Miocene formations and the carbonates from Carboniferous formation in the Carpathian Foredeep were analyzed in this paper. Attributes for acoustic waves (P, S and Stoneley) - Amplitude Envelope and Instantaneous Frequency - were calculated. On the other hand, the best set of seismic attributes for prediction the log well data was chosen using multi-linear regression. Next, the log derived attributes were upscaled to the seismic wavelength. Finally, these two types of attributes were compared and some relations were found.
