Abstract

Building organizational competencies in decision quality can provide a competitive advantage and create significant shareholder value. This is of particular importance in capital intensive industries such as oil & gas, technology, and life sciences. Companies that have transformed their decision-making processes and developed internal competencies in decision quality have seen the payoff in outstanding shareholder returns with respect to their peers. I present an integrated approach for building organizational decision quality and refer to a couple of case studies to illustrate the supporting decisionmaking processes and methods and the impact on shareholder value creation.
