Abstract

Summary

Seismic forward modeling is seismic forward realization of a given geological model ( ). Two main stages of seismic modeling are geological model building, and numerical computation of seismic response for the model. It The last describes the forward process of propagating waves from sources to scatterers down in the subsurface and back to the receivers. The quality of the computed seismic response is partly related to the type of model that is built. Therefore the model building approaches become equally as important as seismic forward realization methods.

The main goal of this article is to introduce seismic forward modeling as a powerful tool to investigate the seismic wave propagation in balanced geologic cross section. We use a model belonging to Perijanero Flank as a special reference to complex geological structures and exploring migration methods, to improve the stacked image produced by as part of an undergraduate thesis of engineering geophysics. The acquisition and subsequent ordering of synthetic seismic data, so all processing of these data are held in the Seismic Un*x package developed by CWP (SU), Colorado School of Mines ( ).
