Abstract

It is well known that the mechanical system of seismic hydraulic vibrators introduces harmonic distortion into the output ground force. Most research and development related to reducing harmonic distortion is focused on the mechanical structure and hydraulic system of the vibrator. However, recent advancements in source control technology demonstrate effective reduction in the harmonic distortion caused by the servo-hydraulic system. This paper discusses these advancements and provides field test examples of harmonic distortion reduction using various types of seismic vibrators.
